Lines of research

1. Health, Diagnosis and Animal Welfare at the Southern Frontier

 

This line is intended for research in the field of medical sciences applied to animal health and welfare and their relationships with human and environmental health. The research will have an interdisciplinary approach involving clinical, surgical, anesthetic, laboratory aspects and their various specialties in domestic and wild animals. Thus, the line of research will include studies focused on diagnostic, therapeutic, recognition and management of animal pain and stress, minimally invasive surgery, development of experimental models and health challenges at the Southern Frontier. These themes will be approached within the problematic of the Greater Mercosur Frontier Mesoregion through social, scientific and integrative actions, with the purpose of promoting regional development.

 

2. Sustainable Animal Production and Family Farming at the Southern Frontier

 

This line is intended for research on technologies involved in the productivity of species of regional zootechnical interest, integrated with animal health and welfare, qualifying family production and agribusiness, based on concepts of sustainability and integrated systems of animal production. The pursuit of sustainable techniques and systems of production, management, nutrition, behavior, welfare and animal reproduction is emphasized, in order to subsidize the productive processes in agroecosystems. These themes will be addressed within the regional problematic, through social, scientific and integrative actions, with the purpose of promoting the development of the Greater Mercosur Frontier Mesoregion.
