Objectives

The general aim of the PPGDPP is to train qualified social scientists for teaching and research through solid theoretical and critical training in the area of Development and Public Policies from an interdisciplinary perspective, enabling them to use the fundamental concepts and theoretical tools to analysis of the socio-economic, political-cultural and environmental reality, in a broad sense, and especially of the regional reality.

PPGDPP aims, above all, to train qualified professionals to identify, analyze, discuss and evaluate the problems arising from the process of economic, social, political, cultural and environmental transformations and to propose actions and projects that contribute to the promotion of sustainable development in an interdisciplinary manner and committed to democracy and citizenship, constituting a space for studies, research and debates on development and public policies, in their various dimensions, based on an interdisciplinary approach.

 

PPGDPP specific objectives are:

  1. I) critically discuss the relationship between culture and development from an interdisciplinary perspective;
  2. II) diagnose and propose innovative solutions to development problems and public policies, at the regional, state and national levels, based on new methodologies and technologies;

III) subsidize the planning, development and management of development policies, programs and projects;

  1. IV) develop research and work in higher education in areas related to the issue of development and public policies;
  2. V) analyze the regional reality from alternatives that contribute to development projects and public policies based on interdisciplinarity and that seek to promote democracy and participation;
  3. VI) understand the regional issues and the political, economic, social and cultural processes that influence the dynamics of development;

VII) know and analyze the government policies in force regarding the issue of development and public policies;

VIII) study governmental and non-governmental organizations that work in the definition, execution and evaluation of public policies related to development.
