Research Lines

Line 1: Knowledge, Processes and Social Practices

Line 1 purposedseeks to investigate and understand social, cultural, political and economic knowledge and practices of social actors and agents in their relationship with processes that organize, configure and modify societies. The investigations produced are based on different theoretical and methodological approaches that thematically address problems such as: the modes of subjectivation and construction of collective memory; power relations and different levels of social agencies; the sociability arrangements and the constitution of new referents of collective action; socioeconomic phenomena in the productive, public and private spheres; and cultural, political and identity dynamics in their recursive relationship with social agents.

Line 2: Education, Cultures and Contemporary Citizenship

Line 2 proposes to establish analyzes of the multiple contemporary schooling policies, scaling them within the scope of today’s cultures and citizenship. It shows a special interest in performing analytical compositions of the ways in which contemporary school subjects are produced in the different networks of power and knowledge and, from a theoretical point of view, privileges a multiplicity of perspectives, placing emphasis on interdisciplinary studies on the modes of conducting contemporary schooling policies. As a result, these policies are examined from the perspective of the agents involved in their implementation and seek to problematize their emergency conditions and their effects. The studies that take social practices as starting points and which, likewise, position the State as a network of multiple political rationalities that regulate the action of subjects and populations acquire centrality.

Line 3: Subject and Language

Line 3 intends to problematize, within the interdisciplinary dynamics, the production of the discourses of truth, objectivity and subjectivity - under the aegis of identities or forms of subjectivation - and their relationship with language, understood both from the analytical as to the political, social and cultural parameters. The reflections cross the boundaries between a language taken as mediation and veridiction of the world and a language understood as action and constitution of the world. From this epistemological debate character, the research turns to discussions to the Humanities (culture, modernities, biopolitics), to the criteria for defining the scientificity of the Human Sciences and, finally, to the relationship of such criteria with other modalities of knowing and of speech. From the perspective of the relationship between knowledge and discourse, the objective is also to establish debates with other languages and their constitutive relationship with the field of human sciences.
