The Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree in Human Sciences (PPGICH) has as its general objective to qualify, at the Masters level, professionals focused on discussions related to the Human Sciences, based on the interdisciplinary imperative and relevant to the area of concentration of Knowledge and Identities, in view of the need to scrutinize and intervene both in the immediate context of the Program and in the broad context that allows its appearance. Its purpose is, therefore, to train researchers and train teachers, managers and professionals related to the field of Humanities, considering the complexity of the objects and methods of the various disciplines and areas that make up this field of research and performance, paying attention to regional and universals demands of problematization of the relationship between knowledge and the production of identities, in the various theoretical-methodological modalities.

  Are PPGICH specific objectives

The Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree Program in Human SciencesMaster’s Degree in Human Sciences (PPGICH) has the following specific objectives:

a) enable interdisciplinary theoretical-methodological training in the field of Human Sciences, which allows the autonomous production of research, capable of social and cultural problem identification, political and historical realities in which the subjects are involved, taking into account the absence of qualified scientific production in Human Sciences in the region where UFFS operates, which is geographically distant from the axis of academic production in southern Brazil;

b) build, at Postgraduate level, on the Human Sciences triad, knowledge production and identity production, in order to embrace existing social processes and practices in the immediate context of UFFS and in the broad contexts of contemporary times, emphasizing research academic in its direct relation to exteriority (geographical, political, sociological, among others);

c) develop constant processes of interdisciplinary research in the Humanities, based on the growing need to understand the complexity of contemporary objects, methods and theories. To this end, engender collaborations between the different areas of training and performance of the Program’s teachers (Anthropology, History, Architecture, Literature, Philosophy, Linguistics, Education and Sociology) in research projects involving students and other social agents in the region;

d) train qualified professionals to work in the various levels of education - Basic and Higher (Undergraduate and Graduate) -, as well as to promote articulation with the most varied entities - public or private -, which have as presupposition a positive and innovative in generating and applying solutions to today’s social, cultural and political demands;

e) to investigate and produce solutions related to the teaching practices of the Human Sciences, in view of the possibility of increasing their interdisciplinary character and causing positive changes, especially in the areas of Philosophy, History, Sociology, Anthropology and Pedagogy, which are part of the list of UFFS Undergraduate Program, according to a comparison between scientific production and disciplinary schooling practices;

f) produce means of disclosure, socialization, dissemination and democratization of academic knowledge produced in PPGICH, either in the form of journals or in the form of frequent production of events, research groups and teaching;

g) engender processes of national and international research cooperation, forging alliances and exchanges between the reflections developed in the PPGICH and those that have been successful in other academic and non-academic spaces of debate;

h) deepen the discussion about “Interdisciplinarity”, broadening the problematization among the various fields of knowledge that are part of the PPGICH and, in addition, establishing clear criteria and requirements for maintaining the interdisciplinary character of the proposal;

i) organize and manage ways and strategies of insertion of PPGICH in regional problematizations, which initial model would be that of “Training Centers”, based on the inference of the fomenting and formative role of the research developed by the Program;

j) a center of reference for interdisciplinary training in the Southern Frontier region.
